St George's Church of England Primary School

PE

At St George’s we provide children with a rich broad, balanced PE curriculum which includes activities such as gymnastics, dance, games, athletics and swimming.  We teach children to work as part of a team towards common goals and as individuals improving their performance, in addition to providing and encouraging all pupils to have the skills required to a great sportsperson.

We value opportunities to encourage trying new sporting experiences.  For example, during our Health and Sports week, the children have tried sports ranging from archery to martial arts and as part of our residential Year 6 trip, they may even get to try rock climbing, abseiling, assault courses or archery!

In their PE lessons, we encourage pupils to play competitively, respecting officials and other players and to learn to win and lose, support others and be supported, showing sportsmanship and good character.  Our aim is for the pupils at St George’s to develop sporting behaviour and attitudes that will benefit them throughout their school life and beyond.
