St George's Church of England Primary School

Music

At St George’s we provide pupils with the opportunity to perform, listen to, review and evaluate music from across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of great composers and musicians.  All pupils learn to sing and use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others, use technology appropriately and are provided with opportunities to progress to the next level of musical excellence.

In their music lessons, we enable pupils to explore and understand how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions of pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and notation.

We have a school choir currently open to KS2 children and additionally we host a community choir every week which is open to everyone to come and enjoy.  Each year we have a fantastic time singing as part of the Young Voices Choir at the O2 Arena!

Additionally, we provide the opportunity to learn an instrument taught peripatetically by experienced teachers from BYMT or children can sign up to be part of ‘RockSteady’, a band in which they take up the role of Guitarist, Drummer, Keyboard player or singer.
