Stay Safe Online

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people and inspire a national conversation.

Globally, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries, coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet. Get involved to play your part!

#DITTO is a free online safety (e-safety) magazine for schools, organisations and parents to keep you up to date with risks, issues, advice and guidance related to keeping children safe online, with a view to enjoying and learning about technology. A new edition is released approximately every 6 weeks. Please be advised that their September issue is now available and is covering issues such as scams, gaming, TikTok app.

The internet is essential in the modern world for both children and adults, but we need to teach our children about safe and responsible internet use. This starts with speaking to your children about the internet and general safety rules from a young age. A great place to start is the CEOP website, think u know, https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk, which gives you child friendly age-appropriate areas to look at with your child from age 5-14+ to start your discussion about how to be safe on the internet.
